Saint Blaise, a fourth century bishop and physician, appears in Templar chapels, altars and relic lists. A statue of him stands near the church of Chamberaud, once a Templar site. Did the order really venerate him, and does the statue prove it?

Primitive Rule of the Knights Templar c. 1129 CE, by Bernard de Clairvaux, abbot of the Cistercian Clairvaux Abbey, France, presented by him at the Council of Troyes, and accepted there after which the Order was officially endorsed by the Church.
